Our Story

Welcome to my little chic boutique.

I am Carrie Vestrand, fashionista/shoe aficionado, and along with my husband, Tim, I opened City Style in 2007.

I spent my childhood summers in Detroit, and grew to love all the city had to offer — especially in terms of fashion. The comradery of the city, with the gorgeous old buildings and urban landscapes, created a rich sense of style that stayed hot even in the midst of winter. Style became my hobby, my passion (okay, obsession) and I decided I wanted to share that with the world.

With Tim's carpentry skills and my expertise with purses, handbags and accessories the idea of City Style became a reality. We decided on Berkley — because, while it has a fantastic, quaint downtown, we thought it needed a little bit of fashion.

Now, ten years later we're still that burst of fashion in a growing city: a Mom & Pop shop that caters to our customer’s footwear and style needs.

Need an outfit to ring in your 50th birthday? How about a killer pair of heels for that board meeting? I am excited to work with you until you satisfy your inner fashionista.

From boots to booties, wedges to sandals, I've curated the best selection of shoes the Motor City has ever seen. As a shoe addict myself I stay on top of emerging trends (2018 sky-high heels are back... for better or worse).

Come into my store and together we can find your next favorite pair of shoes. Try them on, walk around and feel like the fashionista you are!

Accessories make an outfit.

Go from “rut” to “runway” with a statement necklace, or gorgeous studs, and from "boring" to "bold" with a pair of humorous socks (My favorite’s have a Rosie the Riveter pattern).

With my expertise and your personality we can curate the perfect wardrobe, accessories and all, to elevate your style to Detroit standards.

Book a Shoe Party today at City Style and enjoy the rewards!

You can reserve our store any evening Monday thru Saturday 7pm-9pm and have a private shopping party with your friends!

Party Policy/Guidelines

  • City Style provides light refreshments
  • Hostess arrives approximately 10 minutes prior to party
  • Party guests receive 10% discount on full-priced merchandise (does not apply to fund raiser parties)
  • Hostess receives 10% store credit of total party sales to be used toward City Style merchandise. Store Credit is good the evening of the party. (Does not apply to charitable fund raiser parties. A City Style donation will be made based on party sales.)
  • For parties where total sales are $600 or more, Hostess receives a City Pass worth 20% off all future purchases (full-priced items) for one year!
  • Hostess purchases are Final Sale
  • All Shoe Party returns are store credit only
